Spiders are able to climb walls because of tiny hooks on the ends of their legs.

Spiders have hundreds of thousands of tiny hairs on their feet. There is an electrostatic force between each of these hairs and the surface it touches. It is very small but multiply that by hundreds of thousands and you have a charge big enough to stick to any surface , no matter how smooth.
