Yes, and only adults may buy credits. The only way to get credits is by completing quests on the site or by purchasing them. Beginning in 2010, adults could also purchase credits in the form of a gift card.
You earn 100 free credits for completing any island, and 50 points for the Haunted House, Earth Day game, and Dr. Hare's Secret lab (Earth Day available free through the Poptropica Store). Each username can only get credits from each island once, and points cannot be transferred between usernames.

∙ 14y agoThe definition of "buying credits" means using real money (credit). Poptropica credits can be purchased, or earned by completing the various islands on the site. (100 credits for each island and 50 for the Haunted House that is free in the Poptropica Store.)
