This wouldn't be a problem as most household bleaches are based on ALKALINE bases, such as hydrogen peroxide. Ammonia is also an alkaline substance, so won't produce a chemical reaction.

However, you should never mix bleach with anything ACIDIC (such as vinegar, lemon juice, acid-based household chemicals) as this will produce a reaction releasing toxic CHLORINE gas, which can be fatal in large doses when inhaled in air (from about 1000 ppm and up).

It's probably best to err on the side of caution, and thoroughly sanitize any surfaces with water prior to using another chemical on them.

Can you add a drop of Clorox in puppy's water?

Could you put a drop of Clorox bleach in your own drinking water? yes, it's technically possible. However, it should not be done. Bleach is poisonous. Cleaning a puppy's water bowl with bleach is acceptable, as long as the bleach evaporates (dries) before water is put in.

What happens if the respiratory surface dries out?

The respiratory surface needs moisture for maximum efficiency. Oxygen from the air dissolves in the water on the surface momentarily and this allows the oxygen more time to cross the alveoli membrane. If the surface dries out, gas exchange will happen at a very reduced rate since fast-moving gaseous oxygen molecules do not efficiently cross the alveoli membrane. The reduced gas exchange is mostly likely not enough to support blood oxygenation for vital functions.
