This is not an easyone to diagnose without seeing it. It could be many things. Heres a few ideas. Coolant is going somewhere if it is full. After you replaced the radiator and thermostat you need to run it and then more coolant usually needs to be added. After you have done that and ruled that out the only other ways you can loose coolant are bad head or intake manifold gaskets, leaking waterpump, cracked block, leaking hose. Get a pressure tester hook it up to your coolant system apply 15-20 lbs pressure and see what happens. if the pressure drops you have a leake somewhere. if you cant find the leak . look at you oil to see if it is going there. If not there start your car and smell the exhaust to see if it has a sweet smell or if steam is coming out. If coolant is getting into the engine combustion area it will leave as steam. One last thing be sure the electric cooling fans near the radiator are coming on. If they are not working you will over heat also. I believe thes engines have a sensor that causes the engine to shut down if they overheat to save the motor from damage.
By the thermostat
99 Cadillac deville over heats no circulation from reserve
near the thermostat housing
Usually at engine end of upper radiator hose in housing
Will a 99 Cadillac deville radiator work in a 2000 Seville
located n housing at end of upper radiator hose.
when overheating occurs at highway speeds the cause is usually. a radiator or coolant circulation problem, Check for a restricted or clogged radiator.
Check coolant level Perhaps thermostat is not opening to allow coolant to flow
Should be in a removable housing at the engine end of the upper radiator hose
The first step in how one can replace a thermostat in a 2001 Cadillac DeVille is to remove the housing which surrounds the old thermostat. The radiator hose will need to be removed and drained and then the thermostat can be removed. Remove the old thermostat gasket and then insert the new thermostat as well as the new gasket. Attach the radiator hose and place the drained fluid back into the radiator filler cap.
Stuck thermostat, scale build up in the radiator and engine block, radiator cap not holding correct pressure. or it could be your headgaskets
Dirty or plugged radiator Water pump Defective radiator cap Thermostat Cooling fan not operating hoses collapsing
