Ireland has a defence force. standing army of roughly 10,000 strong. with a reserve of about 7,500. It has an army, a navy an air corp,and an elite ranger wing.
The Irish defence forces are involved in united nations peace keeping missions, since their first mission to the Congo in the 1960's.

Additionally, they must make a declaration of intent to obtain United States citizenship, and their home country must be on a list of approved countries from which foreign volunteers may be recruited into the US armed forces.
