absolutely, it works just adding a new car to your own policy except they will be the main driver, expect a sharp jump in your rate though since youngsters are expensive to insure.

If your 18 year old child owns his own car can you put him on your auto insurance policy and are you liable if they get into an accident?

in some places yes

Whose name does car insurance have to be in?

The auto policy needs to be in the name of the person who owns the vehicle with few exceptions. The exceptions deal with a family situation who live in the same household. Vehicles titled to a husband or wife can be insured on a policy in the others name if they are legally married. Also children such as a 19 year old child who owns a car can have it insured on his parents policy if he still lives in the household and is listed as a driver on the policy.

Can you be added to a friend's car insurance?

You can be added as a driver if you driver their vehicle sometimes but your vehicle cannot be added to their policy. The policy needs to be in the name of the person who owns the vehicle and all drivers and household residents should be listed on the policy as drivers or just residents. If you put your vehicle on a policy in a friends name the insurance company will deny the claim if an accident occurs. You sign a legal contract and state such in the contract.

Does your ex husband have the right to claim on an insurance policy if child died in car accident child an adult?

if he's not on the policy as a beneficiery he can't. ADDED: It makes no difference if the child is an adult or a minor. If the policy is up-to-date (i.e.: all premiums paid and current) and your ex-husband is a named beneficiary on the policy then he does have beneficiary rights. It's as simple as that. On the other hand, if he was NOT specifically named on the policy, he has no claim whatsoever.

What is meant by Texas car insurance for student driver?

If you need insurance, Texas Car Insurance is just one of the companies to try for your child. I know that Allstate also offers a discount for your child to be added to your policy, and the benefit would mainly be the coverage on your vehicles as well.
