I am sorry to hear of your father's passing. Unless your father had insurance on his credit card(s) and has an outstanding debt, and he has left a Will, then usually the Will goes to Probate. Probate makes sure all properties and monies have had taxes and interest paid and all creditors are paid. What is left after this is divided by the heirs of that Will. If your father didn't have a Will, and he left his house/property it's best to see a lawyer. Debts have to be paid off. If your father left nothing then you are not responsible for his debts. If the latter above is true, then send a Registered Letter to Management of that Credit Card Co., and a copy of your father's death certificate and tell them if they do not stop harrassing you your lawyer will be contacting them. Good luck Marcy

Get StartedThis letter provides notice to the credit card company that there is unauthorized activity on your card and that you should not be held responsible for those charges. There may be other important information in the "fine print" on your statement that explains procedures that you should follow. When you receive a credit card statement you should carefully review it for possible errors or fraudulent activity. If there are charges on the credit card that were not authorized, then you should dispute them by sending this letter to the credit card company.
The 'balance' of his statement is the monetary value of his account with the credit card company. In this case it is the amount he owes the company.

In California, the company has 30 days from the date of your letter to prove it or remove it. I would suggest sending a CERTIFIED letter that includes a statement from you advising they have 30 days from the date of your letter to respond.
Check your statement or call the credit card company. Up to 3 business days is a normal delay. If longer then this, call the crediting company and the card company.
