If your hamster does not like it when you pick it up, and you are still talking softly to it while holding it, while also being completely gentle and sensitive to all of its needs, there is a problem.
Bring your pet to a pet store to be examined. It may have a problem with humans, period.
However, if your hamster is fairly new, your hamster could be simply shy. Hamsters will outgrow this, as do humans.
Just make sure you are sensitive and quiet for a happy hamster!
all that happens is that you keep picking it up
You should pick up your hamster. Picking up your hamster lets it get used to you, the more you pick it up and play with it the more friendler it becomes.
you have to pick it up
There are several methods for picking up a hamster. The two safest methods are: 1) Lower a container into the cage and let the hamster climb into it. This method is safe and keeps the hamster from biting your fingers. 2) Cup your hands together and slide them under the hamster to lift it out of the cage. Or slide one hand under the hamster and cup your other hand over the top of the hamster.
That type of hamster usually has a very unfriendly personality. It's not your fault though, you could just hand feed it for a couple of days without picking him up and eventually he would associate you with food and start to like you. Actually they are very nice
Of course! What ever you name your hamster is up to you. If you like the name then you can name your hamster that!!!
syrain hamsters are nice and kind but you have to tame them. but there is no grantee that you wont get bitten when picking them up!
If it is a new hamster then the best way is to put your hand it's the cage with a treat on it, if the hamster takes the treat and quickly runs away this is fine. Do this a few times every day and you should soon be able to start picking your hamster up without any treats. If hamster bites you whilst you pick it up this is probably because they stressed, or nervous, so just put hamster back in cage.(Don't shake hand to try and get hamser to release grip as you may injur hamster).
Interact with your hamster daily by allowing them to get used to you picking them up. Be sure to pet them gently and give them food from your hand to build a trustful relationship.
Yes, hamsters bite there cage. Mine doesn't but I know someones hamster that does. Try picking it up when it does that or shoo it off the cage.
Hamsters are omnivores, so basically they can eat everything. The best is if one feeds their hamster with normal, commercially available hamster food, but also feed them with fruits and vegetables (like slices carrot) or grains and seeds, as their diet must not be one-sided. In this way these little rodents can live up to 3, even 4 years as pets.
