No. A pregnancy test detects HcG in your urine, which is released by the implanted embryo into your bloodstream. From what I've read, it can take 1 - 2 days (or more) for fertilization to actually take place after you have sex, and then from there, it takes anywhere from 6 - 10 days for the fertilized egg (embryo) to actually attach to the wall of your uterus. From there, it still needs a bit of time to start releasing enough HcG for it to be detectable by a pregnancy test. Some tests are sensitive enough that you can take them a few days before your actual period is due, but rather than waste the money, just wait until you've actually missed your period (even by a day) before you take a test.
