Usually girls who are sure of their sexuality (as lesbian or bisexual), don't really play as hard to get as they do with boys. From my experience and observances, girls kind of like to let you know that they like you. As opposed to boys, they may feel like that a boy could easily hurt them or play with their feelings, so they put up a wall in between them that has to be broken down first.

If the girl that you think you're falling for also likes girls (openly), I think you'll be able to tell. See how she acts around her other friends that are girls, and note if it's a little different than how she is with you (like if she seems a little more excited to talk to you or is flirtatious with you.) Also, if the things she says or does makes you think twice-- that she could like you, then there could be a chance. Pay attention to how she talks as well; if she hesitates in certain situations, it could be that she also likes you too but doesn't know if you do. (Like when you just want to blurt out how cute somebody is, but then you stop yourself, because you don't know if the other person feels the same.)

If you're not sure of the girl's sexuality, then just take things slowly and don't jump to conclusions so easily. Without thinking about it too much, you may want to start up a chat with her about relationships (pick a time that you know will be good for both of you.) If that seems awkward-- then don't make it so; act as if you're commenting on relationships to bring up the topic. Such as "I'm really tired of Lauren always hanging out with her new boyfriend, instead of the rest of us." It seems far off, but bringing up a situation involving a relationship, will most likely lead to a personal talk about your own relations.
