Im replacing a timing belt in 95 civic DX. My Hanes manual is unclear about the positioning of the cam sprocket seems to be two choices line up marks or make pair of marks horizontal. Answers?

i just did mine on my 95 civic, but it depeneds on what motor you have, on mine 1.5L 16 valve theres a mark "UP" which goes up obviously and then theres a line that should line up with a mark on the timing cover, i dont think its the same though if you have the 8 valve engine or the 1.6L, hope this helps PS check your valve clearance while you have the valve cover off,
