If you are sure you want to delete the windows xp partition then you can use the windows CD to do the job.
Boot the machine with the CD in the drive and you should get the option to format the drive.
Just be sure this is what you want as you will lose all your data stored on the drive.
Assuming you are using Windows. What you do is go to My Computer (on XP, for Vista and Windows 7 it's something like Computer) and right click on it. Then go down to Manage. When that opens up go to Disk Management. There, you can go to the drive you are trying to format and decide how big you want the partition to be and what kind of format you want (NTFS, FAT, etc.). The best thing to do is to look at one of the videos found here on WikiAnswers, that's how I learned how to do it.This is the video I used:http://video.answers.com/how-to-format-or-partition-hard-drives-247683034
All you need is the newer operating system disk. Just put in the OS disc and hit which ever button it tells you to during start up to get to the boot menu. You should choose the option to boot from disc. It will ask you if you want to delete the selected partition. And yes you do want to. After it is deleted, restart the PC. Insert the old OS disc and take the same steps to the boot menu, select boot from disc and it will lead you to the install screen.
It is best to let the Windows 8 install completely before trying to delete it. This occurs when the initial download is paused or stopped. Once you complete the first download, you can remove the operating system and begin an entirely new download to prevent Windows 8 from failing again in the future.
It means that the music CD is not in a format that the media player can understand.
First of all to answer the question. Adaware se is a spyware and adware remover and not a virus remover . sounds like your trying to use the wrong program to delete them . but in any case . if you would like to recover hard drive space then you can delete the files . instead of going through adaware se just browse to the folder through windows and use windows to delete the files..do not Delete the folder!!!!
Under the my computer option right click onto your C Drive or whichever drive you wish to reset the data of and click onto the format drive option. this will reformat the hard drive and delete the information of it. Unless you are trying to reinstall your operating system, this is the best choice. hope this helps!!
It's about installing Windows 7 on my 27' iMac. I've used around 1000GB of my Mac's space and 300GB left, but i still get the error when trying to partition using Boot Camp (Files cannot be moved...) So will it do any good if i moved a 200GB file into my own external drive and try to partition again?
You need a system floppy containing the FDISK.EXE program. Run the program after booting the computer to the floppy, then remove all of the partition data. This should have removed ALL (even hidden) data from the hard drive. You must however remember to re-partition the disk and format it before trying to install your new operating system.
It means that you are currently using a file or files on the hard drive you are trying to format. If you are trying to format your primary drive you will need to boot to a boot disk - not the C: drive. For most versions of windows you will will need to make the boot disk(s) (an option under My Computer) and boot to those disks rather than your hard drive.
The best way is to use partition manager like Cute Partition Manager (which is a free program) to create 2 separate sections of hard drive then install windows 2003 then reboot and install windows xp. when xp asks where you want it to be placed it will show an empty drive select that partition and install it there. After this is done you will see a screen when you start your computer that will ask you to select the operating system you want to load xp or 2003 Answer: First you boot with win xp CD and create two partition. then install win xp first in C: drive. after compleet instalation xp. then insert win 2003 disk when automatic boot with disk. select new oprating systems. after that follow screen instruction.
If you are trying to install xp, you have format the hard drive prior installation. If you trying to reinstall Vista, check your hard drive for bad sectors. Make sure that the installation CD/DVD is readable (just try to copy all content on your hard drive).
If you have the hardware to support Windows 98 you can use Microsoft Virtual PC to install multiple Operating Systems that run on your current OS. Microsoft Virtual PC software is free; it is just a shell however that allows you install Operating Systems just as you would on a new hard drive, provided you have a valid OS on disk like Windows 98. You can download Virtual PC at Microsoft's official website. You may be asking how to install a dual boot system with Windows 98 and Windows 2000. If this is what you're trying to accomplish then you will need to know that you must install Windows 98 on its own Primary partition. Each operating system must be installed on its own partition. If you have a hard disk that has only a single partition, you have several options available. 1. You could reformat your current hard drive after backing up all your important files and re-install your operating systems and partition your hard drive into 2 Primary partitions. Windows will only allow a Primary partition to be made bootable; Windows will not allow Logical partitions of an Extended partition to be made bootable so you cannot install Windows on a Logical partition. An operating system like Linux will allow Logical partitions to be made bootable. -- Meaning you must create at least 2 Primary partitions to install a dual boot system with Windows. Also you can only create up to 4 Primary partitions on a single hard drive. Or you can create up to 3 Primary partitions and 1 Extended partition. Also you must know that the native files systems for Windows 98 and 2000 are not the same. Windows 98's native file system is FAT32 and Windows 2000 is NTFS. FAT32 cannot see an NTFS partition; however NTFS can read a FAT32 partition. The boot sector must be able to be read by both OS's. Which means the boot sector must be on a common file system between both OS's; FAT32 in this case. Installing Windows 98 first will install a FAT32 boot sector and will be able to be read by Windows 2000 after it is installed. This way the system will dual boot correctly. On another note DO NOT INSTALL Windows98 after Windows 2000 has already been installed. Your system will not dual boot correctly; you will overwrite the boot sector. Remember Windows 98 cannot see an NTFS partition, by default Windows 2000 creates an NTFS boot sector, since Windows 98 cannot see an NTFS partition it will overwrite the boot sector and your system will not dual boot correctly. Not all Windows versions can dual boot together. To see the supported dual boot configurations and more info on dual booting see related links. 2. Your other option; which is perhaps the best choice for what you are trying to accomplish is simply hook up another hard drive inside your PC case and you will be able to configure a dual boot system much easier and won't have to reformat your current hard drive. On a side note, you cannot use an external hard drive to boot to an Windows NT operating system, such as a Windows OS later than Windows 98. You will receive an error and the system will not boot! However, you can install an open source operating system such as Linux or Unix and have it boot to an external hard drive. Also Linux/Unix operating systems will even boot to a USB stick.
