In California some HOV or carpool lane restrictions are for weekdays only. Are the carpool rules inforced on a holiday that falls on a weekday and can you identify the actual vehicle code reference?

According to the new Alameda County Congestion Management Agency (who are installing an automated system where an SOV (Single Occupant Vehicle) can *pay* to drive in the HOV lane), the answer is that weekday holidays are the same as Saturday or Sunday, so your answer is NO. Go ahead and drive in the lanes without fear of being ticketed. Of course this raises the whole question of whether or not this is fair/constitutional/morally repugnant to allow wealthy drivers to circumvent the laws that apply to the not-so-wealthy...
