St. Nick is called 'Sinterklaas' in the Netherlands and he celebrates his birthday on the 6th of December and brings presents and candy on the 5th (evening) and 6th (morning) of December. He arrives about two weeks before from Spain (where he lives), rides on a white horse and is accompagnied by his helpers called 'zwarte Pieten' (black Petes), originally Moors from Spain. It resembles St. Nick but is not the same.
