Because the stones had lord Rama's name written on them. The god of the Sea had promised lord Rama that any stone that had his name written on it would float on sea so that Rama and his army can cross over to Lanka.

Do things float in alcohol?

Yes. For every fluid, there are things that float in it ... they just have to be things that are less dense than the fluid. That's how stones float in mercury, logs float in water, and hot balloons float in air.

What stone can float on water?

Pumice stones will, these are low density rocks formed by volcanoes

How stone float on water what happen at the time of Adam's bridge?

Pumice is a type of volcanic stone that has a lot of trapped air or gas, and floats. However, most of the lighter pieces tend to be very small. The explanations I'm seeing is that the stones in the region were actually made from a form of coral. It wasn't clear how they had been dried out, but presumably they would be naturally occurring in the area. Archeological excavations are apparently finding these coral stones in lower layers under the bridge as if they were placed there.

How dense is a tiny stone?

That depends on the material of which the stone is composed. Some stones are so light that they will float in water e.g. pumice stone, while most others will sink in water.

Why cant stones float in water?

The molecules in a stone are packed together more tightly than the molecules in water-- the stone is more dense than the water is, so the stone sinks.
