Tate is definitely right of doing that. If he hadn't, Boo would have been in big trouble. Last time Boo got in trouble, his father locked him up in a house and it was only a small crime. For murder, what would happen to him????
Yes, Heck Tate's decision to spare Boo Radley from the publicity of an inquest is justified because Boo acted in self-defense to protect the children. Additionally, Boo is a reclusive and vulnerable character who does not seek attention or recognition, so it is in his best interest to keep his involvement in the incident private.
After Atticus understands that Boo Radley, not Jem, killed Bob Ewell, Mr. Tate tells him that he intends to say Bob Ewell fell on his knife to spare Boo from becoming a town celebrity. Scout assures Atticus that Mr. Tate is right by saying that letting Boo become the center of attention of the town would be like shooting a mockingbird.
You know ( ; Crawl it right up there ( :

been awhile since I last looked but if you crawl under the spare tire with your head towards the front. You will look up right before the spot where the spare tire lays into the trunk and you will see it. I think it is right above the axle? but I do know it's right before the spare tire holder.
Right hand trunk hatch cover with fuses to the right of the spare tire
Remove the cover in the trunk. Should be right there.
