In cooking, liaison would mean how the various ingredients work together and taste together.

Improved answer: Don't know about that. I'm in culinary school right now, which happens to be in Sweden but we still use french cooking terms, liason is in this case the name of a thickening agent for soups. Using a mix of egg yolks and cream. Make sure not to boil the soup after this mixture has been added, that would cause the egg to coagulate.

A liaison is a close working or intimate relationship. In cooking it is a binding agent in a sauce.
