The wooden bucket normally would float, but it was dropped from
the top of the well so that it hit the water's surface with enough
force for it to go underwater and fill up. Then it had to be pulled
up.

Q: In early times using a bucket to get water from a well why didn't the wooden bucket float. It seems simeple enough but perhaps too obvious. A leather pouch would catch water but wood normally floats.?
