75% chance of having straight hair and 25 % chance having curly Alleles Curly (woman) Curly Straight Straight Straight (guy) Straight Straight Curly

If a baby goat received dominant gene for curly hair from one parent and recessive gene for straight hair from the other which trait will the baby goat display?

curly hair, as the dominant gene overrules the recessive gene I THINK :)

Are curly ears a dominant or recessive?

i think its doinant

What is a gene not dominant or recessive called?

Yes, it is called co-dominance. It appears in hair textures and, well, other stuff. example: straight hair is hh wavy hair is Hh curly hair is HH there is no dominant, just a sort of blend, even though wavy hair is more likely.

If I used to have straight hair till about 25 years then a bit wavy is my genotype straight or wavy. My son is very curly and husband a bit wavy. Is that normal?

Genotype for straight hair is recessive and for curly hair is dominant. So lets suppose this: h = straight hair H = curly hair Then to get straight hair, for it being a recessive for that characteristic, your children must be hh. If they are Hh, hH, or HH, they will have curly hair You, for having straight hair are hh, your husband can be Hh or HH. If you quickly use Punnett square (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punnett_square) to see the odds of each possible genotype your children might have, you will have the following: If hh + Hh: 1) hH > curly 2) hh > straight Result: 50% chances of getting straight hair If hh + HH: 1) hH > curly 2) hH > curly Result: 0% chances of getting straight hair So, yes, it is possible.

What is the different forms of gene?

Dominant and recessive. When drawing a Punnett Square, a dominant gene is written in uppercase letter meanwhile the recessive one is written in lowercase. Example: H-curly hair h-straight hair Curly hair is dominant straight hair is recessive

Why does a person who inherits an allele for curly hair and an allele for straight hair have curly hair?

This happens because of the dominant and recessive alleles. This means that if your dad had curly hair naturally, and your mother had straight hair you would have both alleles, but your mum's gene of the straight hair was recessive. It was dominated by the curly hair gene. Bullied away, if you prefer. It is totally normal, and often happens. However, that does not mean the curly hair gene always is dominant, it just means that your curly hair gene was. If you would prefer straight hair though, you can buy straighteners, and hair straightening products.

Are cat curly ears dominant or recessive trait?

Dark hair (black or brown) are considered to be dominant genetic traits over lighter colors like blonde and red. This is a very simplified perspective of the genetics of hair color. Hair color is coded by multiple genes, so this is slightly more complex in reality.

Are curly ears a dominant or recessive traits?

its a dominant trait because it covers up your recessive trait so only dominant shows :)

If straight hair is genetic why do you have straight if none f your ancestors did?

it is because the parents each were heterozyous dominant. meaning each of them had a dominant allele and a recessive allele. the dominant allele would be the curly hair, and the recessive allele would be the straight hair. There would be a 1/4 chance that the child would have curly hair, and a 3/4 chance that they would have curly hair. Say that the Curly hair allele was H and the straight hair allele was h. In order for the parents to have curly hair, they would either have to have an HH gamete or an Hh gamete. Seeing as though the child came out with curley hair, both parents would have to have an Hh gamete. In order to find out the probability, you multiply the parents gametes. (Hh)(Hh). This will give you HH, Hh, Hh, hh. seeing has three of the gametes have the dominant allele, this child will have curly hair, and one is a homozygous recessive, so it will turn out with straight hair.

What does the curly and straight hair gene control?

If you have straight hair of curly hair. I think straight haris is dominant.
