Sea turtles, like reptiles in general, do not raise their babies. Once the turtle egg hatches, the baby is on its own.

The sea turtle (of any breed) lays eggs in a hole dug above the high tide mark, usually at night, and then returns to the sea. The baby turtles eventually hatch, and digging themselves out, hurry to reach the sea. Many turtles fail to reach the sea as predators (seagulls, foxes, etc) gather and snatch them up. Those that reach the sea are still in danger, as sharks, seals, and other predators lurk in the waves.
It is only because of the vast numbers of eggs laid, that a small number of turtles survive to grow into adulthood, and will eventually return to the same beach to lay eggs.
