The circumference of the earth at the equator is 40,075.16 kilometers or 24,901.55 miles.

The shorter circumference of the earth over the poles is 40,007.86 kilometers or 24,859.73 miles.

The difference is 67.3 kilometers or 41.82 miles.

This shape is known as an ellipsoid or more properly, a geoid (earth-like).

The distance around the earth from east to west is twice as large as the distance from north to south. From the north to south the distance is about 20,004 kilometers while the distance around the earth the equator is 40,007 kilometers. However, this distance is almost equal if you were to go round from the north pole all the way back to the starting point.

How far is the distance between earth and sun?

The exact distance between the Earth and the Sun varies with its position in its orbit, which is elliptical. The average distance between the Earth and the Sun is about 93 million miles or about 150 million kilometers. This distance is also called 1 astronomical unit (AU). Around the first week of July (Aphelion - when the Earth is the farthest from the Sun), the distance is about 94.4 million miles or 152 million kilometers. Around the first week of January (Perihelion - when the Earth is the closest to the Sun), the distance is about 91.3 million miles or 147 million kilometers.

Whats the distance from Jupiter and earth in Kilometers?

The distance between Jupiter and Earth varies depending on their positions in their respective orbits. On average, the distance is about 778 million kilometers. At their closest approach (opposition), they can be as close as 365 million kilometers, and at their farthest (conjunction), the distance can be as far as 928 million kilometers.

What is the closest distance between Venus and Earth?

When Venus is farthest from the Sun and Earth is at its closest, the distance between Venus and Earth can be as low as 39.5 million kilometers (23.6 million miles). The average distance between the planets' orbital distances is 41.4 million kilometers or about 25.7 million miles.Because the planets orbit at different speeds, the distance at any given time will be much larger, up to a maximum of about 261 million kilometers.
