The best possible hand determined from what's on the board (community cards)

Example:

Board: Ac As Th 2d 3c

The nuts in this case would be quads, one player holding Ah Ad.

You can always revise the nuts by adding the information your hole cards provide

Same board as above, but you hold Ah Tc. Now you know there's no qauds, and you have the best possible boat (Ac As Ah Tc Th) and can in worst case only split the pot.
