In rune scape how do you get magic?

Click on the spellbook. Every spell there gives you magic experience - except for the first one (home teleport), which requires no runes. At first, the only spell you can do is a basic attack. Use that for a while. When your magic level increases, you will be able to do additional spells. Each spell needs some runes, which you can buy at the Grand Exchange or in a rune shop.
