Well the fact is that none of Australia pop culture is its own, it has been influenced by America and Great Britain. Australia's identity has been involved, from what the culture, traditions and morals were left behind by the first settlers.
Before WW2, Australia was closely linked by the mother country- England, but due to the ANZUS (1951) treaty and American troops being stationed in the war with their dynamic ideas and attitudes; later influenced Australia greatly.
When in the 1950s rock 'n' roll started by the great icon Elvis Presley; teenagers adored him, his hairstyle, fashion and his moves. Whilst the parents thought of it as scandalous behavior. Other famous icons such as Marilyn Monroe who was adored by the females and her fashion seriously influencing young women.
Even though most entertainment was influenced by America, but Australia's taste of sport reflected our British heritage.
