I Believe it means each and every day, just as we put on physical clothing to cover our bodies, we need by our attitude to put on, that is apply the action to our thought process and then in turn it will be shown in our actions. such as if we apply compassion or put it ion, our actions will show forth compassion to others and so forth.

we can not put on attitudes as we do clothing, but we apply attitudes by our choice and will through our heart and mind processes, by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the work of submitting to the Holy Spirits working in our thoughts and actions.
