The notary stamp has no affect on the validity of the document. A notary is typically appointed for a period of a few years. No one has to go and get all their documents 're-notarized' to keep them valid.

No. And in fact, the notary stamp is not what expires. The notary stamp is only proof that the person signing the document as a notary public is, in fact, an actively-commissioned notary at the time of notarization. The expiration date is only the date on which the notary's term of office ends. If the notary is appointed for a subsequent term, he or she will usually get a new stamp or seal indicating the new expiration date.

Provided that the document was notarized according to law, the document will remain valid even after the term of office of the notary who originally notarized the document ends.
