In the 1939 film version of The Wizard of Oz, the adventures of Dorothy Gale and her pet dog Toto are a dream. And Dorothy fills that dream with individuals from her real life in Kansas, with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. For example, Dorothy is in constant conflict with Almira Gulch, in Kansas. So, in Dorothy's dream, Gulch becomes the Wicked Witch of the West. In Kansas, Dorothy meets Professor Marvel, who is a fake medium. So, in Dorothy's dream, Marvel becomes the humbug Wizard of Oz. And, in Kansas, Dorothy's friends are three farmhands. So, in Dorothy's dream, farmhands Hickory, Hunk, and Zeke becomes the Tin Woodman, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion, respectively.
In terms of her three friends, Dorothy met the Cowardly Lion last. In terms of everybody in the lands of Oz, she met Glinda the Good Witch of the South last. For author and Oz series originator Lyman Frank Baum [May 15, 1856-May 5, 1919] had Dorothy spend most of the book trying to meet the Wizard of Oz, and get him to help her and her three friends in the realization of their individual requests. When she was prevented from following through on the Wizard's plan for her return to Kansas, she then turned her sights on Glinda for help. And so the last part of Baum's book dealt with Dorothy's attempts to meet the Good Witch of the South, and get her to help in the return to life with Uncle Henry and Aunt Em.
The scarecrow is the first companion that Dorothy meets to bring along with to the Wizard as she wants to go back to Kansas, and the Scarecrow wants a brain. The Cowardly lion is met last when Dorothy is accompanied by the Scarecrow and the Tin Man and he decides he would like the see the Wizard to get Courage. So you could say they have different personalities. I'm not too sure if it's what you were asking but... Here you go :S :D Have fun, and if you have time you should watch the movie because it's GREAT!
