Bison are found in two different biomes: Grassland, and Forest.

It was not uncommon for bison to have their wintering grounds in the mixed boreal and aspen parkland of Western Canada, and many bison are still raised or live in this area. A species of bison called the Wood Bison (smaller than the Plains Bison that once ruled the grasslands) make their home in these forests, extending their range further north to Northwest Territories, the Yukon and parts of Alaska.
