The major beliefs of Islam are organized into a chart called the Five Pillars of Islam. These are five major beliefs of Islam. They are to believe and say, "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his prophet"; to pray in Arabic, five times a day, at certain times, facing Mecca; to give to the poor and needy; to fast during the month of Ramadan, avoiding all food and beverages from sunrise to sunset; and lastly, to make a pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca at least once during your lifetime. These are the major beliefs of Islam that a Muslim would need to follow.

The pillars of Islam are five pillars according to the saying (hadith) of prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Islam is based on five pillars which the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has explained for us, when he said: "Islam is built upon five [pillars]: the testimony that there is no god but Allaah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; establishing regular prayer (salaah); paying the zakaah; Hajj (pilgrimage) and fasting Ramadaan." (Agreed upon; narrated by al-Bukhaari, no. 8). All Muslims; irrelevant to their schools; stick to these pillars. Refer to related question below.

The practices and rituals that the Muslims use is a significant way of the people remembering their history and express conviction. Some practices are daily, like prayer to Allah, and others are practiced annually which align with Islamic holidays. The religious practices and rituals of Islam are relatively small in number, but great in importance. The Five Pillars of Islam are five practices regarded by all sects of the Islamic religion as essential to the Muslim faith. Islam is a 1,400 year old religion having been found in the 600's A.D. by Muhammad. The Five Pillars of Islam are the five religious duties expected of every Muslim. The five pillars are mentioned individually throughout the Qur'an and Muhammad listed them together in the Hadith when he was asked to define Islam. The first of the Five Pillars of Islam is the shahada. Shahada is the Muslim profession of faith. Almsgiving is a central activity in Islam. The Quran explicitly requires it (9:60, for anyone wanting to look) and often places it alongside prayer when discussing a Muslim's duties. The fourth would be Sawm (also siyam), fasting, commemorates the revelation of the Quran to humanity during Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic year. At least once in his or her lifetime, each Muslim is expected to undertake a pilgrimage to Mecca, the sacred city of Islam. This holy journey is called the hajj in Arabic. Hajj is the fifth pillar.I hope this helps answer your question!!

The Five Pillars of Islam are not actually literally pillars. They are like 'duties' that Muslims must or should attempt to complete in their lives. The Pillars include: Shahadah (belief in Allah), Salah (Prayer), Zakat (Charity), Sawm (Fasting during Ramadhan) and Hajj (Pilgrimage). Hajj is not a compulsory Pillar - only Muslims who can afford it are obliged to go, and should try to donate money to Muslim charities so they can offer fellow Muslims the amazing chance to go on Pilgrimage.Five Pillars of Islam according to shia Muslims are:1.
