They fought, they killed and burned and did whatever they could to discourage expansion. Unfortunately for them there were many more Europeans (white people) than Indians and a large portion of the Europeans were poor and looking for land and a way to improve their lives. They simply kept coming and slowly pushed the Indians away in front of them.

The Amerindians resisted oppression by fighting back. Too often, the onslaught of settlers or occupying soldiers was too strong, and most of them perished.

Usually, they wouldn't resist if their weapons weren't strong enough. But a lot of times, they would attack the Americans because they wanted to be set free.
