In what ways is a Mac better than Windows?

If you want a short answer:

People with PCs usually spend 1-3 hours per week doing something to keep their PC working right; Mac owners don't. Also, Macs come with totally decent software to do pretty much anything a typical home user would need to do; PCs don't. If you don't already know how to use either, a Mac is easier to use. And Macs last longer.

Here's a longer answer:

As this question asks for ways Mac is better than Windows, this answer is allowed to be one sided. Both Windows and Mac have things they're better at (I'll mention some advantages of PCs at the end, just to be fair).

• Mac arrives with ready-to-use software for most home use.
• Mac statistically survive longer and have less problems.
• Mac is very easy to use, even for people that have never used a computer before.
• Mac is very simple to update.
• Mac is easier to troubleshoot.
• Mac allows you to reinstall a empty Hard Drive via WiFi.
• Mac is first with innovative and advanced solutions on accessories, like MacBook's charger cable connection with magnet (doesn't break as easily or flip your laptop on the ground when you trip on the cord).
• Macs have much better resale value. A 2-yead-old PC laptop is worth less than $100 (maybe zero, depending on the brand and condition), while a 2-year-old Mac would be worth at least half what it cost new, and probably more.
• If you want to, you can run PC software on a Mac, with BootCamp (free, and works with games) or Parallels or Fusion (which let you run PC software at the same time as Mac software).
• Most software (major software and small apps) is nicer and slicker on a Mac.
• Almost everything Apple makes is just beautiful.

Advantages of PCs (it's not such a long list, but let's be fair):

• The least expensive Mac is about 3x the cost of the least expensive PC.
• People who have used PCs for along time sometimes find it difficult to switch.
• Mac implies a very limited range of machines to choose from.
• Mac accessories are usually fewer (to choose from) and more expensive.
• Mac apps (small programs to do little things) are usually not free (as they often are for PCs), and there are usually fewer to choose from.
• If you want to run PC games on a Mac, you have to reboot the machine before and after the game (doesn't take long, but still...), and you'll probably have to to buy a copy of Windows (another $100 or so).
• If you have a piece of Windows software you need to use during the day (I do), you can either run it on a PC with Remote Desktop (included, and works well), or install Parallels or Fusion (and Windows) on the Mac to run it in a window, for another $100+.

P.S. Overall, I'm very happy that my employer gave me a Mac to work on. It's my first, after about 20 years of using PCs. On the other hand, when I'm paying for it, I have a $300 PC at home.
