Australia's longest bridge used to be found crossing Bramble Bay between Brisbane and the Redcliffe Peninsula, in southeast Queensland. It was the Houghton Highway and its parallel bridge, the Ted Smout Memorial Bridge.
However, that changed in 2013, with the opening of a new bridge over the Macleay River plain near the small town of Frederickton, in the Kempsey Shire, New South Wales. It is part of the Pacific Highway and has a span of 3.2 kms.

The longest highway in Alabama is Interstate 65. It stretches from the border with Tennessee almost to the border of Florida. Given that it is almost border to border, this would make it the longest one in the state.
Judging by their use for crossing the greatest distances and status as the worlds longest bridges I would say the suspension bridge.
