The Great Sandy Desert, Australia's second largest desert, is northwest of the MacDonnell Ranges in the Northern Territory.

The McDonnell Ranges are located in Australia and are situated north of the Flinders Ranges. To the north of the McDonnell Ranges, you will find the MacDonnell Ranges, which include both the West and East MacDonnell Ranges. These ranges are part of the larger geological framework of the region, characterized by their rugged terrain and significant geological formations.
The MacDonnell Ranges extend from west of Alice Springs to south of it.
