Pearson, who saw it on the bablons of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WW1.At that time Canada was still loyal to Britain.The nationalists wanted Canada to have its own identity, but the imperialists wanted to stay loyal to Britain. Pearson wanted to give the people what they wanted, so he was in a 33 long day debate. When the debate began to get really hectic the government closed the debate.By that time Queen Elizabeth Signed a Royal proclamation that authorized Canada to have its own flag. On February 15,1965 a ceremony was held in honor of Canada's new flag. The Canadian flag is still alive today.
