Should be near the middle of the truck on the drivers side, on the inside of the frame rail. If it's in the same spot as my 96, but I'm pretty sure that's where it is.
a pickup and a truck are the same thing hence the term pickup truck a pickup can be a truck but a truck doesn't have to be a pickup.

It is inside of the drivers side frame rail behind the cab, You will have to lay down under the truck and look up in the frame to see it. It is close to were the transmission cross member bolts to the frame.
The 1988 Mitsubishi pickup truck data link connector is located on the bottom of the drivers side dashboard. The gauge link connector will be to the left of the steering column.
