87 Caprice uses Throttle Body Fuel Injection. To put a carb on it will also require changing the distributor and fuel pump and disabling the computer. This will eliminate your cruise control and possibly mess up your speedometer.

A 1987 Chevy Caprice Classic with the original engine does have a carb and the engine is a 305, because I have one. This can have a 307. I have an 87 Caprice Estate Wagon, with a 5.0 liter 307 olds. Which, is actually for sale.

on the side of the carb. look for the word filter and an arrow near a inlet nut...unscrew the nut and out pops the filter!

Assuming you have a 305 V8 with a Rochester Quadrajet carb. You will have to pull the carb, and tear it apart. The TPS sits in a groove in the front of the carb body. Buy a carb rebuild kit, watch the Youtube videos on rebuilding quadrajets, and do it. I just rebuilt my carb over the weekend. My 83 Caprice now runs great.

the only fuel filter on a 86 caprice is right before the carb in the line. Just remove that line carfully as not to damage the nut use a line wrench to prevent disaster and dont bend line because it could cause breakage or creases. don;t worry about the gas that comes out of the carb and line just let it evaporate before trying to start car.
