Very common problem in the 4.7 tundras 2000-2005. You can get both manifolds for around $400 online. Yes they are separate. If you try to
do it yourself you definently want the chiltons service manual. Common noise comes from under the hood suck as an exhaust leak or even a ticking noise as it were. You will notice this most when under power (driving/accelerating)
It's located under the intake manifold. You must pull the intake manifold to replace it, Mine went out at 280000 miles.
Its under the intake manifold, Yes its a real pain to swap out. Good luck, Jmbeam
Assuming it's a V8, the starter solenoid is attached to the starter, which is on top of the engine, beneath the intake manifold.
The starter is located under the engine manifold.
If your Tundra has a 4.7 L v8 then be prepared for a long job. The starter is under the intake manifold and takes about 4 hours to take the intake manifold, fuel injection and some cooling parts off just to get to the starter. It is not impossible and I did it and save about 600.00 in mechanics fees. Check other chat sites for more information. Good luck.
13 ft lbs but tighten gradually from the center out to each side. If you number them 1-5 tighten them as 3-2-4-1-5...
