I would check or replace the interior light RELAY,and it could also be the interior light switch malfunction. these are the two things of my mind that i would be checking. Also check all doors to be sure they are shut, especially the the drivers door switch many jeeps door henge pins wear, causing the door to sag-causing the switch to stay out & leave the light on. Good luck Steve
Yes. Your broken light switch is probably the culprit.
turn on the ignition - pull every fuse in turn until the light goes out but its easier just to take the bulb out as the fuse may also be for other electrical items.
Fuse #4 in the fuse panel behind the glove box is the one to remove to defeat the door switch (if you remove the doors). The interior lights will still operate by the light switch only. There is a graphic of this fuse panel attached to the back of glove box that you can see when the glove box is removed. To access this fuse panel, lower the glove box and remove the retaining strap by sliding it to the right. The glove box can then be lowered enough to allow it to be removed. Reassemble in the opposite order.
under the hood to the top right there should be a black box with some printing on it, take the lid off and there are fuses under it, refer to the top of the lid to locate the proper fuse.
Some Wrangler models, (at least 2005 and up, maybe more), have a fuse labeled, "Door switch defeat." Fuses are behind the glove box door. Remove that fuse and the interior light will stay off, BUT, you can still turn the interior lights on manually. I'd suggest taping the fuse inside your glove box door so it' will be handy to replace when you replace the doors.
There are various sizes and ratings used. Replace with what you take out.
Take the bulb out.
Try looking at the fuse that corresponds to the things that are not working. Take the actual fuse out of the fuse box, and look at it, examine it. You will be able to tell immediately if the fuse is blown or not by the way it looks. If it is blown it will have some gray matter or black in there.....or the fuse will look messed up, or both. Good luck to ye!
First step I would take is to check BODY FUSE. Usually a 20-25 amp fuse depending on the year. Cigarette lighters are on the same fuse
behind the light in the hood. press the clamp gently, take off the cover behind the lamp, and change the fuse...
the brake light fuse is located where the brake pedal is at... just take the cover that it has above the brake pedal and you're gonna see fuses on your left....
Don't light the fuse. hahahaha
