This is only important when the verb is used with he/she/it or a singular noun subject.

The the verb has -s ending.

He likes ice cream. The doctor likes ice cream.

Compare this with a plural subject:

They like ice cream. The doctors like ice cream.

I suppose you could say like is a plural verb but that is not a common thing to say about a verb.
