Typically a longer glasspack will sound deeper but not as loud, a shorter glasspack will sound louder but not as deep. Most commonly 18in long muffler section 22 inch overall length is the right balance. This can change based on engine type and personal preference.

Depending on your state, your vehicle may not pass inspection so be satisfied with what you have.
