Andy Veliz is a retired school administrator from Texas and now an adjunct professor at The University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg, Texas. Veliz has degrees from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and a Masters Degree from The University of Texas at Austin. In 1980, Veliz wrote and recorded his first record entitled "Lonely Nights Without You". That summer "Lonely Nights" became a Rio Grande Valley "hit record". He and his mananger Joe A. Leal decided to go on tour around the state of Texas. His record became a hit record in Texas at the end of summer when he ended his tour in Dallas, Texas. Veliz has recorded three CDs and several cassettes throughout his career. He sings in weddings now and as many social functions around South Texas, which is an area known as the "Rio Grande Valley".
