Aruba and Oahu are equally fine choices as tourist destinations.
Specifically, which one to choose depends upon reasons for the trip and upon timing. For example, Oahu is part of the Hawaiian islands in the Pacific Ocean. Visiting it therefore necessitates more travel time than visiting Aruba. Otherwise, both locales offer beautiful beaches, fun land and water activities, interesting architecture, sunny skies and warm weather.
For some it will always be Waikiki Beach.
Honolulu is the capital of the State of Hawaii and is located on the south shore of Oahu.

I'm not sure you can call it "Hawaiian industry" but Oahu is home to Honolulu which is the 'city' in Hawai'i. The industry in which Hawai'i gains most income is the tourist industry.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) owns the Polynesian Cultural Center in Laie, on Oahu's North Shore. The Polynesian Cultural Center is Hawaii's #1 paid attraction. The Church also owns BYU-Hawaii and the Laie Temple on Oahu, as well as the Kona Temple on the Big Island, although these are generally only visited by Mormons.
Oahu is the most populated of the Hawaiian Islands.
