Yes it is, you want to make sure you get the correct amount of BTU. Depending on how large the area is and how many people it expects to keep cool. If there if not enough BTU it will fail to cool the room.

How many square feet does an 18000 BTU air conditioner cool?

The general rule is 600 sq.ft. per ton of refrigeration, so an 18000 BTU A/C will cool approx. 900 sq.ft. . There are many variables, such as insulation R value, normal summer climate in your area, age of the structure, etc., so this is just a guide. To know for sure, have a heat load calculation done.

If your home requires 2 million Btu of heat energy from the furnace what is the cost in dollars to heat the house with natural gas assuming 60 percent furnace efficiency?

If your home actually requires the 2MM btu then that is the output you need, if your furnace is 60% efficient then you would need 3,333,333 btu input to produce 2,000,000 btu output, There are 1000 btu per cubic foot of natural gas therfore you would burn 3333 cubic feet of gas to produce 2MM btu. Your question cannot be answered here because I don`t know what you pay per cubic foot of ng nor did you give a time frame for how long you plan on heating the house. But now you know the figures and you can do the math.

How much is coal worth today?

Coal comes in many types - for many uses. Thermal Coal: Primary for Power Generation - can be as affordable as $13.25 per ton Metallurgical Coal: Primary for Manufacturing Cost as much as $300+ per ton Difference: Based in the energy content measured in BTU's - British Thermal Units Low: 8,400 Btu's per Pound High: 15,000 Btu's per Pound Most often thermal coal cost less than Rail Road rates to carry the coal to power plants / other facilities

What was the cost of natural gas in 1998?

Natural gas prices also rose from $2.38 per million BTU (British thermal unit) in 1998, to $2.64 in 1999

When paper money is demonetized its intrinsic value becomes?

The 'intrinsic' value of ALL paper money, is HOW many BTU's it will produce when you burn it to keep warm. It gets its "value" when people think it is valuable and are willing to trade REAL items for it. But ask yourself this. If somebody offered you Monopoly money, or Confederate Currency for your house or car,, would you take it? Of course not. But did you know, in the world's history, there has been more than 400 different paper currencies and ALL of them eventually fell to zero? (average time to crash? Less than 100 years.) Dump your bucks and buy real silver and gold.
