From the research and information I know, there is no sugar or carbs in the nutritional facts but the kicker is that I just found out that because rum is made from sugar cane, it still breaks down in your body the way sugar does. Confusing. This was shocking to me but I assume it is true from word of mouth and research. Also apparently, alcohol itself breaks down in the body in a very similar way. I've been drinking this "diet drink" for years thinking it was no harm to my diet but now I have learned different. Bummer. Anyone else know more?!
No, there are carbs present, but they are not carbs attributed to weight gain, so they count the "net carbs" as being zero. Carbs like fiber carbs do not "count" because they don't make blood sugar rise significantly. http://thelanguageguy.blogspot.com/2006/04/great-net-carbs-scam.html http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/03/18/WIGIQ5LTBC1.DTL
As one of Bacardi rum's ingredients is sugarcane/sugarcane molasses it is NOT sugar-free. That is, until the sugarcane/sugarcane molasses chemically reacts with the added yeast and gets completely fermented into ethyl-alcohol, that being the substance in Bacardi which causes intoxication and which is in the actual bottles sold to the public.

"no" According to the label, it contains no sugar. According to nutritional charts, rum contains no sugar. Of course it does. Rum is distilled from sugar cane. That being said the content is quite low as it does get converted into alcohol, but it does have sugar. The above is incorrect. There is no sugar in distilled spirits unless it is added after distillation. See nutritiondata.self.com/facts/beverages/4011/2 for details. Total carbs for gin, rum, vodka, and whiskey = 0. "Nope, the above is still correct. First off, we don't know what type of Bacardi is being talked about. Silver (should) be sugar free, but dark, and any of the flavor varieties will contain sugar. What do you think makes dark rum? Some of the color comes from the aging in oak casks, but it is also from adding caramel to the rum after fermentation. Guess what caramel is?"
Bacardi & Company Limited.
Well, there's dark rum, like Myers and Cruzan, and then there's amber-colored rum like Bacardi 151 or Captain Morgan, and then there's light (clear) rum like Bacardi Light or Bacardi Limon.
