fìon à Burgundy. (burgundy wine)Bha burgundy is champagne ann.Diùc Bhurgundi. (Duke of Burgundy)
Legend has it that the first inhabitants of Burgundy migrated from northern Europe, particularly Scandinavia, to east of the Rhine River. No date has been affixed to that migration. In the 440s, after the Huns destroyed their homeland, they moved south where the Romans gave them "Sapaudia" which was north of Lake Geneva. Once Burgundy became a kingdom, it increased its territory to the south in what later became known as Provence. Burgundy was conquered in 534 by the Franks, but was still considered to be a separate kingdom. In 806, Burgundy was divided into two Frankish kingdoms known as Upper Burgundy and Lower Burgundy.
The color is burgundy, from the wine of that name.
