Best Answer

Acid. for future reference, acids contain hydrogen and a negative ion, bases have hydroxide and a positive ion and salts have a positively charged ion (except hydrogen) and a negatively charged ion (except hydroxide)

In the Arrhenius acid/base theory, an acid is anything that donates a hydrogen atom (aka a proton). Since acetic acid (HC2H3O2) fulfills this requirement, yes, it is an Arrhenius acid.

Is vinegar a base in water?

The active ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid (HC2H3O2), which is a weak acid.

Is HC2H3O2 a base?

'HC2H3O2' is a rather poor way of writing the formula for ethanoic(acetic) acid. It is usually written as 'CH3COOH'.

What is formed when an acid and a base is mixed?

when an acid and a base combine, salt and water are formed. This process of reaction of an acid and base is called neutralisation.

What are the examples of salt of weak acid and a strong base?

HC2H3O2 + NaOH ---> NaAc + H2O Acetic acid + sodium hydroxide ---> Sodium acetate + water Read more >> Options >> http://www.answers.com?initiator=FFANS

Is Salt formed when an acid or a base react chemically?

Yes. An acid-base reaction forms a salt and water. acid+ + base− = salt + water

How does salt neutralise?

I'm assuming you mean a salt neutralising an acid or base- This can not actually happen, because a salt is already 'Neutralised' An acid can neutralise a base, and a base neutralise an acid, but when Base+Acid reacts, a salt is formed. Adding a salt to a acid or base solution will only make it salty.

What forms when base react with acid they form salt and what?

acid+ base= salt + water

What is the general form for the simplest type of acid base reaction?

Acid + base salt + water

What are the reactants and products in a neutralization reaction?

In a neutralisation reaction, an acid and a base will react to form a salt and water. This salt will be either acidic, basic or neutral depending upon the pH of the reactions. General rules:weak acid + strong base → basic salt + waterstrong acid + weak base → acidic salt + waterstrong acid + strong base → neutral salt + waterweak acid + weak base → neutral salt + water

Can an acid and a base react to form an acid?

NO!!!! Remember the general acid reaction equations. Acid + Base = Salt +Water Acid +Alkali = Salt + Water Acid +Metal = Salt + Hydrogen Acid + Carbonate = Salt + Water + Carbon Dioxide. NB An Alkali is a soluble Base.

Name of hc2h3o2?

Acetic acid
