California is a good contributor in agricultural sales. It provides a huge portion of all produce available in the United States. It is mainly due to the nutrient-rich soil found in the valleys and basins of the state.
The kiwifruits, apricots, plums, and artichokes are the agricultural items that are only grown in California and not anywhere else in the United States. California is generally known for horticultural crops.
It is the agricultural hub for California. It is also very important to the agriculture of all of the US.
I am not a US citizen, but a mayor is usually the leader of a city or town. A states leader is a governor. At least that is my understanding. As of 2017, the current governor of California is Jerry Brown.

Mechanized, scientific, large scale farming on huge farms is the only way to go - say what you will about Farm-Aid and Willie and all, but there ain't no way that Mom and Pop can grow enough corn and wheat to feed all of us, not to mention half the rest of the world.
