Christianity was merely a term used for those who follow Jesus and His teachings. Christianity could be said to be God's way to mankind and "Religion" is mankind's way to God. The point to all religions, or beliefs, even Christianity, is to see and experience God in your life and soul. If that is not happening, look for another path to God, or change your lifestyle and belief system. ___________________ In the very earliest days, Christians were Jews who continued to worship in the temple and in Synogogues. Within the first century, and for various reasons, Christians broke off from the Jewish practices. Christians were moving toward an understanding that the Christian message included gentiles, and there were also differences regarding the place of the Law.
When Jesus began to reform it to fit him.
No. The original Ecclesia might have been considered a Jewish reform movement, but the various Ecumenical Councils established a religion with a very different basis and construction from Judaism, which makes Christianity a different religion from Judaism.
Christianity should be the basis of social reform.
judaism has three main branches: orthodox, conservative, and reform. Each branch has a different way of practicing the religion. there is no central authority in judaism, but the Jews follow the Torah (their sacred book) and the rabbis, sort of like priests in Christianity
Not really. Tradition holds that it began with Abraham, who abandoned idol worship (polytheism) to worship the one God.
Why are there Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform Jews? Why are there Shiite Muslims and Sunni Muslims? Why are there Vishnu worshipers and Shiva worshipers? Why is there Soto Zen and Rinzai Zen, and why Mahayana and Hinayana Buddhism? There are many differences in belief among Christians and many forms of Christianity.
It actually goes the other way around. However, Christianity and Judaism parted ways the day Christ rose from the dead. It is worth noting that many Christians do not necessarily view themselves as being terribly separated from Judaism: the belief here is that Christianity is the fulfillment of the promises of Judaism, rather than a replacement or separate religion. Adherents to Judaism tend to view the matter significantly differently. The term 'Christian' did not exist until a decade or so later, however, and the Roman government viewed Christians as a Jewish subset for a short time after that. In a way, the answer depends on who you ask, but these are the most common answers you will get from any given group.Christianity and Judaism was split in Roman eyes after the imposition of the "Fiscus Judaicus" under the emperor Domitian and the later reform of the fiscus under the emperor Nerva. This fiscus was a tax on all Jews in the empire after the destruction of Jerusalem. At the beginning Christians were included as they were a Jewish sect or offshoot. In the year 96, after the reform by Nerva, a legal distinction was made between Jew and non-Jew. Judaism was an accepted religion and Christianity was an illegal one. This parting in 96 is interpreted as the historical break between Christianity and mainstream Judaism.
They weren't out to reform England. All they wanted to do was pray and have their own religion.
Jesus Himself in the first instance, since He opposed much of what the Jewish religious teachers of His day believed. The same Jewish teachers in failing to recognize Him as their Messiah, and refusing to allow Him to reform their ideas also helped create a new 'faith.'
She is a Reform Jew and an outstanding Senator as well!
Lutheranism
The person who wrote that evidently thought that religion is harmful for humans - that it enslaves them.
