I have severe Fibromyalgia, and My consultant who is the North West leading specialist in Fibromyalgia confirms it as a disability.

Any one who disputes the fact has no idea how debilitating it is, even the most severely disabled are not always in constant pain.

I think there is a belief that because a condition is not visible your not disabled, its a creeping decease which effects all your muscles, leaving the sufferer in pain and stiffness 24/7. Movement becomes severely impaired, also fatigue plays a big part.

GP's can not diagnose Fibromyalgia they haven't got a clue, it took 5 years for me to be diagnosed. You need to ask to see a Rheumatologist they are the experts, early diagnose is important, so you can be treated with the correct medication, as it takes so long to get the balance right, a course of speciality Physio can also help, Fibromyalgia does not get better, its long term although you can have good and bad years, but there is no remission.

At one time sufferers where just fobbed off and told it was rheumatism, now with more and more people suffering it is becoming more recognised condition.

It is only a matter of time before it will be classified as a disability.

How does chronic fatigue syndrome affect the life of a child?

My sister is 12 years old and diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome. It is terrible, she misses many many days of school, and nothing makes her feel better. she has been tested for, i dont even know how many, viruses, diseasies, etc. All negative. She has been on many medication none that seem to be working. She is becoming depressed, too. She is overwhlemed with school work after being absent. She is now using crutches because one of her main symptoms is leg pain and weakness. She doesnt have enough energy to walk, and crutches help her not have to use that energy of her legs. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is terrible for a child. Hopefully there will soon be a cure or people can find something that work to make themselves feel better. Certain medications or treatments ( such as yoga) work for some people.

What is Fibromyalagia?

Lyme disease connections to chronic fatigue syndrome?

Lyme Disease Often Missed as a Cause of Chronic Fatigue SyndromeLyme disease is caused by a spiral shaped bacteria (spirochete) called Borrelia burgdorferi. They can be transmitted by tics, but also by mosquitoes. The spirochets have been called "the great imitators" because they can mimic virtually any disease, which is why they are often misdiagnosed. Anyone with chronic illness and especially those with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia need to consider Lyme disease as the cause.Patients with chronic Lyme disease most commonly have fatigue, joint and muscle pain, sleep disorders and cognitive problems (brain fog). In addition, infection with Borrelia often results in a low grade encephalopathy (infection of the brain) that can result in depression, bipolar disorder, panic attacks, numbness, tingling, burning, weakness, twitching and is associated with neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis, dementia such as Alzheimer's disease and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease). In addition, this infection often results in hormonal deficiencies, abnormal activation of coagulation and immune dysfunction, which potentiate the symptoms. Patients with chronic Lyme disease often complain of "strange" or "weird" symptoms that cannot be explained even after going to numerous doctors and often results in the patient being told that it must be psychological.

I doubt that the negative energy caused by being above water lines could cause all of that.

Are unusual bowel movements a symptom of Asperger's Syndrome?

A bowel movement means you excreted feces through the large intestine. And because everyone has bowel movements, it can't be a symptom of Asperger's Syndrome. CLARIFICATION by Parker Gabriel, person with AS: Even though the human abdomen does have a nervous system all its own, which sometimes operates independently of the main one centrally clustered in the brain, colonic elimination of solid body wastes ultimately has nothing whatsoever to do with brain function. Additional Comment: Parents of children with Asperger's Syndrome often notice unusual bowel movement symptoms (e.g., chronic diarrhea, chronic constipation) in those children. The child could have chronic diarrhea or chronic constipation for years, despite being given the typical treatments for those problems. The reason for unusual bowel movements in children with Asperger's Syndrome is not known.

Mixed News for CFS Patients?

Chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as CFS, is characterized by disabling symptoms such as extreme exhaustion or fatigue and trouble sleeping. As a result, many patients diagnosed with CFS also suffer from cognitive problems that can impair memory and cognitive functioning. While the symptoms are recognizable to most doctors, it remains unclear what actually causes chronic fatigue syndrome. It was not until the 1980s that the first noted cases of CFS were recording in the United States. To this day, doctors and researchers remain divided as to the believed cause for the syndrome. While some believe that CFS may be caused by viral infections, others are not so sure.Other researchers and doctors have more or less dismissed the condition and written it off as a stress-related problem or a psychosomatic illness. As a result many CFS patients as well as their family and friends continue to be dismissive, thinking the condition is all in the patient’s head.Common symptoms of CFS:Fatigue and post-exertional fatigueCognitive difficultiesExhaustion or fatigue even after sleepingDepressionHeadachesMuscle and joint painSore throatMild feverRecently, an advisory panel to the FDA urged the agency to ban blood donations from patients with CFS in their medical history. It may seem odd, but this was considered good news by sufferers of the condition who felt that CFS was finally being taken seriously.Unfortunately for CFS patients, less than a week later four additional papers were published suggesting that the earlier studies that lead panel experts to make such a recommendation were more than likely the result of laboratory contamination. For patients, the news has been frustrating as experts have not come to a consensus on the causes or best treatments for individuals dealing with chronic fatigue syndrome.
