No, Theban King Creon isn't the father of Theban King Oedipus. But he is his brother-in-law and uncle. He's brother to Theban Queen Jocasta, who's wife and mother to Oedipus.

Is Creon Oedipus' son in 'Oedipus Rex'?

No, Creon is not Oedipus' son in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. - 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Creon is Oedipus' uncle, brother-in-law, royal colleague and ultimately royal successor. Shortly after Oedipus' arrival in Thebes, he marries widowed Theban Queen Jocasta, Creon's sister. But Oedipus does not know that he actually is Jocasta's son and therefore Creon's nephew. Creon becomes Oedipus' royal successor once Jocasta's and Oedipus' incest and Oedipus' murder of his own father become known.

Do the audience believe that Oedipus is Creon's son?

No, the audience doesn't believe that Theban King Oedipus is the son of Theban King Creon. Oedipus clearly is in control of the interaction. Creon comes back from Apollo's Shrine and wants to share what he learns in private with Oedipus and only later in public with the Theban people. Oedipus refuses and tells Creon to speak there and then. That isn't the typical father and son interaction in which the son respects the father, in ancient Greece.

Is Polybus Creon's brother in 'Oedipus Rex'?

No, Polybus is not Creon's brother in "Oedipus Rex" by Sophocles (495 B.C.E. -- 405 B.C.E.).Specifically, Polybus is the King of Corinth and the foster father, not the biological father, of Theban King Oedipus. Oedipus is the nephew and cousin of Theban King Creon. Oedipus is heir to the Corinthian throne, which he nevertheless does not claim. If he had, the royal lines of Thebes and Corinth would be related through Oedipus' descendants.
